There isnt a "better" one. The difference is in the wiring options. Dual voice coil subs can be wired into different ohm loads to work with a wider variety of amps. For example a single voice coil 4 ohm sub can only be used with a 4 ohm amp. A dual voice coil 4 ohm sub can be wired into 8 or 2 ohms so it can work with amps that run 8 or 2 ohms. Now 2 single voice coil 4 ohm subs can be wired into 8 or 2 ohms, and 2 dual voice coil 4 ohm subs can be wired into 4 or 1 ohms. So it depends on how many ohms your amp runs, then get the right type of subs to match your amps ohms.

You can produce more than 2 options with wiring 4 seperate loads.

Simply because an driver has a specific, un-changing load (say...4 ohms) does not mean you have to use it with an amp that is only 4 ohm stable. You seem to have this notion that amplifiers "are a resitance" or something. Maybe it's just the way you word your answers. Amplifiers are never any ohms, at least in this aspect.
