speakers shorting out HELP PLZ!
alright, im not real sure whats goin on with my speakers, but i just got an '02 with premium sound. i went to replace the front speakers with pioneer speakers, and once that was done, i turned my radio on, and the pioneer speakers are shorting out @ high volume/bass. i havent tried the back ones yet, and im pretty sure the wiring is fine. are the pioneer speakers too powerful to run off the factory amps, or are the front speakers even controlled by the amps in the Mach Audio system? please help
they are just your everyday pioneer 6x9s that replace factory mach audio speakers heres a link SPEAKERS
I just wired the two front speakers up to factory wiring.

hell yeah i still have the factory setup, i have a real nice aftermarket one, but the '02 i just got, has the 6 disc cd changer and nice setup and already came with the line out converter for subs so i didnt feel the need to change the head unit
is there a way to bypass the amps and just have the speakers feed off the radio? im not real sure what the wiring is like, like if theres a connection from speakers to amp and radio
i haven't worked on too many mustang's with the mach systems. Only ones i have done i put in both a 4ch and a sub amp. So, im not exactly how this system works, but it is a possibility the 4 ohm pioneers are causing the amps to shut off. Does anyone know what the ohm load is on the factory speakers? most probably 2 or 1. You may want to put in an aftermarket and bypass the amps completly. Thats what i would do, anyway.
you pobally have the wroung ohm speakers. If i was you i would unhook them asap that will blow up your factory amps if it didnt already until you find out how many ohms your factory speaker is.The factory speakers probally are not 4 ohms
had the same speakers in my '96 GT with mach audio sound system untill her tranny blew, worked great, of course i had all 4 mid-ranged replaced with pioneer speakers, but that shouldnt make a difference
