Relay for keyless entry to work in foxes?
I made a post last year regarding this subject, I got an answer, but didn't think to actually write it down; and now the post is gone.
I had tried to get my viper alarm's keyless entry function to work on my 87 vert. I tried every single wire combination coming right from the door lock switch itself. Someone had told me that I needed to buy a relay due to the way the lock/unlock works electrically in foxes. He even gave me a part number for it. I'm hoping that one of you guys ran into this issue too, and know the part number, or where I can find this information. Thanks guys.

i think you have a positve door locking system.check your installition manual it should have a diagram for positive door locks.all you should need is some relays and the relay sockets sorry dont have a part #
The manual didn't have any information on it; I can't recheck but I'm 90% sure. I simply has a wiring diagram coming off of the alarm unit, and where each wire is supposed to go. Like for example; Green/white goes to pos. lock, green/black goes to neg. lock.
That was all it said. i tried every combination like I mentioned in my post and it didn't work. Do you or anyone know how I can figure out what kind of relay I need, or where to find out?

try www.crimestopper.com click on techweb then click on manuals click on the model cs-2000 III rev.b but any alarm manual should work you will see a power door lock wiring diagram i am pretty sure you have a positve trigger doorlock so look up the positive trigger doorlock that should help you out. you will need 2 relays . I am not 100% sure that you have pos trigger door locks its either positive doorlocks or reverse polarity doorlocks i will try to find out for you.you can get relays at local alarm shops
Okay thanks a lot zook, I'm going home this weekend and I'll take another look at the alarm itself. Please let me know when you find out whether it's the pos. door lock or reverse polarity. As for the relays, would I go into the store and give them the numbers it shows on the diagram? The 85, 86, 87, 30, 87A thing? Thanks again.
we sell the relays at my shop but your alarm should have came with one relay for the starter its the same one just ask the local alarm store if they sell alarm relays they should know what your talking about the numbers on the top are just the pin numbers all of the alarms relays have these same numbers. i will find out soon on witch door lock you have i might just rip apart my 91 lx and find out because its bugging me know
I ripped apart my car and is looks like its a reverse polarity door lock.Make sure you fuse the power for the relays just in case you wire it up wrong it should be the red wire in the diagram.good luck if you have any problems hit me up
I didn't use the starter kill, meaning I can use that relay then huh? I'd still need a second one though. But you said they're all the same, that makes it easier to find. Thanks again for all the help, I really appreciate it. Let me know which it is when you find out.
Thanks again
Thanks again
