Whether or not to replace mach 460?
I am new here, and it seemed like a good place to get some advice.
I have a 2001 stang with the mach 460 system. Several months back it was stolen and recovered. The only thing missing was the head unit. I had problems with the shop that did the work. They replaced the 6 disc in-dash changer with a cd-cassette combo. Long story short---insurance gave the money to fix their screw up.
Now, my dilema is whether or not to replace the entire system. I know for sure that I want to replace the head unit with a head unit that is capable of cd/wma/mp3 and sirius ready. I am looking at the Pioneer DEh-P4800 to P6800 series. Also one of the left tweeters seems to be blown and possible one of the rear.
My quetions are: Is it worth it to spend the extra money for new amp and all speakers? I feel like I could do this on my own but I have never attempted to do anything like this----am I an idiot for thinking that?
Or should I replace the speakers and head unit only?
Any advice would be much apprectiated.
Thanks,
jt

replace the whole system, nothing that comes out of the factory as far as stereos go are worth anything. your music will sound so much better and it's alot of fun doing a complete system. not difficult at all either.
thanks for the response Hot Wheels. You made up my mind. Do you know of any easy step by step guides for the newbies/dummies out there? I got the replacing guide from stangnet.com----which was mentioned on this forum and crutchfield is also sending me something.
thanks for the help,

i work at ccity and i had them remove my mach 460 and put in all new stuff, i got infifnity kappa speakers and 2 10' mtx subs, sounds amazing. but ccity just finished carrying infinifty and moved into eclipse and they sound even better, so go by circuit city and see if u like them
I agree with the other posters. There's much better stuff after market if you have the budget. It actually makes good business sense to not install nice audio and up the sale price of the car, because people not into good audio equipment won't care and people that are would rather hand pick their own system.
