How to tell if I have a Bullit Mustang?
I bought a 2001 Mustang GT last Thursday. I was replacing the clutch today but the clutch I bought for a GT isn't the right one for my car, it's too small. From the little info I gathered online, there was only a GT and Bullitt GT in 2001 aside from the Cobra.
Did the bullitt Mustang use a different size size clutch?

Check out this page.

Easiest way to tell. Look on the front of the driver's side shock tower or under the rear seat and see if there is a bullitt authentication label with production number of the car on it.
Oh and yes, it did come with an 11 inch clutch.

Webdoc hit the homerun with his response.
There are a few quick visual clues, but the best way to tell for certain is the authentic decal on the driver's side strut tower.
Lucky you if you thought you had purchsed a GT and actually wound up with a BULLITT!!!

Well Bullitt's came in dark green and black right? See if you have larger brakes than a GT, if you have a shaved trunk lid with no spoiler, open the hood and see what kind of intake you have. A bullitt intake manifold is different than a GT by a LONG shot visually. Side skirts are different. I believe there would be factory installed "mud flaps" molded into the side skirts (which are quite rare to come by, so if you have them they could be original).

Otherwise Webdoc nailed it.

They only made 723 of the TrueBlue Bullitts, so they are a little harder to find.
The shape of the C-pillar is different, the seats are different, the numbering on the gauges are different, the pony on the front of the car is in a black corral(not a chrome corral as the GT), there were no fog lights originally(although some guys added them after purchase)... all visual ques that you won't find on a GT.
If it turns out to be a BULLITT, check out imboc.com
It is a great source of support and information for Bullitt owners.
Let us know if you did in fact purchase a Bullitt.

I don't think I have a Bullitt, I looked over the car today and there was no label on the shock tower and the trunk has a spoiler on it. I am going to pull the rear seat tomorrow and see if the is a tag under there. I just thought with the different clutch size I might have one.

In the model year 2001, the Mustang saw some changes including a new manual transmission. Later 01's had the tr3650 and earler 01's had the t45.
Do you know which one yours has? I'm thinking the clutch might not be the same for both.
