CAROLINA CHAT
Man, listen to me. I sound almost as old as Jeff!
Good Morning, I need some advice, badly. I purchased a 2006 GT in 2010 and it only had 1500 miles on it. It has 10,000 now. I have had numerous problems and I am getting afraid to drive it as I am older and afraid of breaking down. First, I have had to put 2 alternators on it and have had 3 batteries. This morning, I drove it and the check fuel cap light came on. When I stopped and checked it--opened the fuel door and the cap literally popped off at me. Is the can in danger of exploding? I really don't have anyone to ask these questions to as I know more about cars than my husband does and he has never driven this car. Any help you can give me will be so appreciated as I love this car but I am afraid of it. At this point, I am about ready to park it beside the road and find something that is more reliable. I

As for the alternator and battery, unfortunately the alternators on these cars are crap, and if your replacement was a generic parts store replacement (oem remanufactured), there's still a good chance of it going bad again. And when your alternator goes bad, it does so in a way that can damage your battery, which is why battery failure isn't uncommon when these alternators fail. I caught my alternator before it went completely belly up, and my battery is still good for now, but the positive terminal had a good bit of corrosion on it so I'm worried about the long term damage still. What I found with alternators is that you can spend $200+ and get one that's supposed to be NEW (not remanufactured) and higher quality (eg. PA Performance on AmericanMuscle.com is supposed to be good) and hope it doesn't happen again, or you can just get a cheap remanufactured with a lifetime warranty and plan on replacing as necessary (if that's something your able and willing to do).

Yep, it's a sad state that our society has turned in to. Kids having kids, single parents, most of them are too worried about what they are going to drink tonight or where the party is this weekend to actually be a parent. I could probably count on one hand the number of my friends who have ended up having kids that are actually decent parents. Most of them probably shouldn't even have pets, let alone kids.

Yep...
HAHAAAHAHA...As old as Jeff....LMAO
I'd be careful with those lifetime warranty crap. I tried cashing in on that with a solenoid, no receipt. Told them I had it for about a year and the store guy backed out on replacing it. It was only $10 but it clearly stated lifetime warranty on the new receipt for the exact same part.

Jeez, when did this trend so political? Everyone blames the X and Y generations for being such pains, but the 40-60 year olds raised all of these losers. I say we get rid of the lot of them.
Edit: Yes I realize I sound like an ***!

Although I'm 45 I started late. Mine are 10 and 6. Although I have one in college as well, she was raised by her mother and turned out well.
EDIT:
But yes...The blame falls on the parents.
