Default Rear end gears..?

I'm playing with the idea of going 3:73 or 4:10 gears in my auto 2001 GT as i already have the hand held tuner and AM has the Ford Racing 4:10 gears on sale for $161 but i have a $10 off from buying from them before.. where in my area does this type of rearend work ?

I don't know of anyone in Asheboro that does it. Everyone seems to take them to Pro-dyno in Ft. Mill... same guy that had the dyno at Parkway.

ProDyno is going to be putting my 3.73's in... his work is outstanding. And btw I was talked out of the 4.10's and was told to go no more than 3.73's. Last week we were at ProDyno talking to a guy that had a 2013 GT and had put in 4.10 gears, he was planning on switching them out and putting 3.73's in... he said the 4.10's were killing him on the top end.

Manual=3.73

Auto=4.10

These seem to be the best combos/setups for good power, spirited driving and everyday drive-ability

Gear choice is all about what you are going to be using the car for. For a street car that sees limited track duty, usually 3.73s. For someone more serious about numbers at the track, 4.10s. Tons of things some into play when selecting a gear... HP levels, RPM range, Tire height, etc... It is really easy to "overthink" it.

Kind looking for something closer lol.. i guess with my 4.6L 2v making horse power is kind of limited so 4:10 gears would be like making unseen horse power from a stand still.

but if ProDyno is the best then maybe i will use them, now does anyone know how much the cost is to do it not counting cost of gears.

I think Dan does them for right around $500 when he provides the gears.

Give him a call 704-651-3807

Or email dandesio@pro-dyno.net

I got my 3.73's installed today and wow what a kick in the a$$. I had the entire rearend done since it's right at 100k miles. I also had the carbon fiber discs in the trac lok. Entire thing including parts and labor was $850 with all new seals, bearings etc.

3.73 gears are too steep for 11-13 autos. However for the '01 its a good setup.
