Do you know if the 8.8 would be a simple swap from Ranger to Mustang axle? I assume the diff center and the pinion set with new crush wshers etc.

My ranger has the springs on the top, mustang has them on the bottom, so you'll still have to do some welding. The explorer has leaf perches on the bottom So potentially less work, and if you get a late 90's model you can get disc brakes without any mods..
