Default Tutorials for Elements 6.0?

Hey guys, do you know of any tutorials for Photoshop elements 6? I have managed to figure out how to do some chopping but I can't for the life of me manage to make a sig. If any of you are using Elements and can make sigs a sticky would be great, thanks.

i'm using 2.0, so sorry i can't help tutorial wise. the best advise i can give on making a sig, though, is to use layers. make the background (like when you open a new document) the color of the new forum background (the numbers are on another thread, can't remember them at the moment). then use layers for the 'faux background', the car, the username, etc. that way, you can change anything you want without messing up any other layers. be patient when chopping what you want for a layer; take your time, zoom in on the image, and highlight what you want to chop. all it takes to make a good sig is practice.

Thanks for the advice. I just can't seem to get one image on top of another. When I make a background and then find an image to put on the background, I will cut out the image and place it on top but it always has the white part that I cut out placed on the background too (hard to explain). And when I get it on there, the image size gets completely distorted and misshapen....I suck.

i kinda know what you mean. when you resize images (in 2.0 anyway) hold down the shift key while you resize; that should keep the proportions right and when you are done resizing, select the main arrow thing in photoshop to 'focus' the image.

as far as when you are cutting the image, do you just highlight what you want to edit and then select cut/copy? thats usually how do it and i don't have any problems. sometimes, photoshop may automatically 'simplify' the layer you cut; that usually puts a white 'background' on the image you just pasted onto another layer. a white background usually shows up if you delete everything around the part of the image you actually want to use too.

I'm starting to figure things out a bit. I will be sure to try the shift key when I resize, thanks.

I just try to look where the light source is coming from, then use the airbrush (within in the paintbrush option) effect on a low percentage (around 25%); then mess around with it until the shadows look fairly natural. getting good looking shadows can be kinda hard to do
