Default Newer headunit to fit a 66

I have a jvc cassette player that was in the car when I purchased it and it fits right into the factory cut out. Is there another head unit with an ipod hook up or something that will fit into the cut out that doesnt cost $300? I do not want to cut the dash or hide a headunit somewhere. I am just wanting a new radio that has more watts, can handle more channels and possibly have a hookup for an ipod.

To the best of my knowledge there's only one company out there that sells modern stereos that look original and fit into the original slot. The problem is that they're very expensive and from what I've heard, pretty crappy, plus I'm not sure if they have an ipod hookup. I really can't remember their name at the moment, I think it was Custom something. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I have one listed right now in the parts section for 100.00 it says on the box it has cd input jacks which I am fairly certain could be used to hook up an iPod with an RCA cord...

When I bought my car they gave me the stereo with it is has never been taken out of its plastic wrap... You can also look at http://customautosound.com/ but like you said it is hard finding something cheap to fit...

Also there is www.retrosoundusa.com but unless your willing to cut the dash or mount a normal one somewhere else be ready for sticker shock.

Buy jamestangs!!!! This is an EXCELLENT unit. I have one in my 70. The sound quality is excellent, there are RCA input ports for an iPod cable or CD plater (headphone to RCA converter cables are like $3.00.... or if you buy Jamestang's I'll send you one for free. (I DJ; I have cables out the ***)

These are SUPER nice units and you can't beat his price for a brand new one.

Got it installed today and the sound quality is so much better than the ken harrison jvc unit. I have 6 speakers in the car 2 - 6x9, 2 - 5 1/2", and 2 - 3 1/2". I have only changed the 5 1/4 but I can def. tell a difference in the sound from the other speakers.

I would recommend custom auto sound units to anyone. Looks and sounds great! Also, its a plus if you can find a deal like I got from James for a brand new unit in the package.
