Default When I get back from Iraq and my Mustang...

When I get back from Iraq, sometime in November of this year, I am going to pimp out my ride.

One of the things that I am going to do is fork over some loot for a nice paint job. With that I also may (or may not) do some body modifications. My three choices that I day dream about while over here is either:

*Keep it original and just re-paint it.

*Put on a Shelby style hood, front end and rear end.

*Put on a Shelby style hood, front end, rear end and bottom and top side scoops.

*Sell it and get a Chevy

I really want a 68’ style hood, even though my car is a 67. I am also a fan of the big *** round double lights in the grille. Although this will be at the expense of my blinker embed hood and the famous Mustang emblem in the grille.

I'm a big fan of keeping the cars what they are.
If you bought a Shelby then make it a Shelby,If you bought a 67 fastback......

It also depends on if you want to keep explaining to every non-Mustang owner what it is.
I guess really what I'm trying to say is if you modify it then admit it when asked about it,don't just say it's a 68 Shelby when it's not.
A 67 Fastback is a great car and a 68 Shelby is a great car.

If you want to start changing the looks lets trade cars. I want mine to look more like the older style.

Looks nice as it is. I do however like the "Shelby" look. I will say that if the car is 100% original and everything is there, then it may be worth considering keeping it and restoring it to a concours original. I can see from the pictures that some mods have been done already though.

Forget the Shelby stuff and add MOAR ENGINE! Sure get it painted, but instead of buying a bunch of body parts, build a smokin stroker, like a 408. I wouldnt recommend anyone buy a chevy, unless its a truck since trucks are about the only thing decent. An old Pontiac however, is very different from a chevy, and I would recommend buying a GTO or Firebird older than 1979 or 1998 to 2002.

When I got back from my final deployment in 04, I spent the wad of cash I had on a 467 that makes over 700hp. Build a **** nasty engine and get a decent paint job. Hell have someone bring it up here and I will fix any rust and repaint it for you in whatever color you want. I can have it done by November easy, unless it is hiding more rust than my 71.

No it’s not original, the original three speed manual came out about 30 years ago, and the 289 was blown (by me…oops) a year and a half ago. As for the 302 that I have in it now, I got the performer RPM heads, a radical cam, air gap intake, MSD 6AL etc…I just finished that last summer….I’m planning on body upgrades (I really really love the 68’ Shelby style hood), suspension, brakes, 5 speed (I have a 4 speed right now), fold down rear seat, re-carpet, heater core replacement and maybe a new rear end (I have a 3.55 right now and thinking about a 4.something to match the 5 speed). I day dream about putting in a bigger motor, it will probably be something that I do in a few more years.

It’s going to be tough choice. I love the in-hood blinker set up and yes…the green wheels I think are hawt. Maybe if the economy keeps crashing then maybe I will be able to afford a real Shelby when I get back…woot!
