Up through 72 were front drums, so I found a 77 front end with discs to rebuild and install. Sandblasted, new kingpins, all new brake components, and 1" spacers to switch from stock 5x5" to late model 5x4.5" wheels.

Man..that stuff is soooooo big and heavy compared to Mustang stuff..

Thats cool James. A friend of mine is doing something similar to that to a 66 F100. Do you have any tips for him? This basically looks like a Granada swap on a Mustang.

I agree about the I beams wearing out tires. My 95 F150 wears the edges of the tread unevenly. Its not too big of a deal though as long as the alignment is done right.

Waffles, What are the plans for the truck?

Like this... Not a uni-body truck though. 64 GMC fleetside my dad and I are restoring. Has taken us about 3 years to get it this far.

Nice. You don't usually find an old farm truck with that little damage. The tailgates (if they are there at all) are usually trashed from rust and having stuff dropped on them. How is parts availability on something like that?

Everyone should have a beater truck. I have a 74 F150 with a 390, hasnt moved in a long time. The 360 is very similar to a 390, I remember something about stuffing a 390 crank, rods and pistons in a 360 and its a 390, so supposedly same basic block. FE engines have a bunch of interchange with cranks and rods, a 428 crank in a 390 makes a 410 and Mercury put those in cars, you can still get pistons for it. I would leave that one alone, its a decent runner, why mess with it?

The current beater truck that I have been playing with is a 76 C10. It was the first truck I bought, and it pulled the race car and a whole mess of projects around. I didnt bother with body work, I just sanded it down, primed and painted it, then dropped in a 454 and 700R4 overdrive trans. Needs work, other things are more important since the 92 F150 is running now, and it pulls the trailer using less gas.
