New Project; 1971 F100 Pickup
Well, in an attempt to bond with my 17 year old brother in law, I decided to convince him to buy a 71 F100.
He's currently driving his mom's minivan, so I started to look for something good for him.
We found this. Guy wanted 2250, I got him down to $1600.
Has a 360 (don't know much about this engine, other than it being in the FE family.) that is original miles right around 70,000. Was a farm truck it's entire life, and though the paint is oxidized and has some surface rust, has some neat natural patina to it. Runs EXCELLENT. Fire quickly and sounds healthy.
3 speed on the tree. Shifts pretty smooth. 9" rear. Dual Exhaust
Only 2 areas of serious rust concern. They're being addressed immediately. Frame is in excellent shape, but needs to be undercoated (what's a cheaper alternative to POR-15?)
Interior's decent.
Should be a fun project. I'll post more pics as we work on it.

Thats great man.. my first vehicle was a 79 2 wheel drive F-100 short bed.. and I loved that truck.. I would still own it if I hadnt have joined the navy. If I can find a picture of it somewhere I will post it..

Should be fun...doesn't look like anything major to fix.
Lots of surface rust but I don't see anything in the pictures that would prevent it from being used as a DD.
My first "car" was an '82 F150, wish I still had that old beast.

very cool rebuild, you might want to look in to swapping out the tree shifter for a floor shifter, in my 76F-150 (300I6) i would break the shift linkages about every year or so, the 3 on the tree shift patter, is just hard on them to my understanding and everyone i have talked to they have all at one time or another broken the linkages. But a good thing about the tree shifter is the people will think its an auto and then say hey you got an extra pettel.

The 360 is a fe was only used in the trucks its likes not fast but will pull.Eastwood sells a por15 knock off never priced it tho.lmctruck should have any parts you would need. And roddoors.com has some nice interior parts.Only thing i would really change is the gas tank take it out of the cab and mount a fuel cell under the back of the bed.

I learned how to drive on my Dad's 72 F-100, it had a 390 and would absolutely smoke the hell out fo the tires. It was a great truck to tool around in. I'd love to have another one. that's a great find Waffles.
Good Luck!
