Default GOOD LORD!

So i pulled my steering column and steering box today....

ITS A FREAKIN DEATH TRAP!

Any one who's had thiers apart can sureley under stand why, but briefly its...

2 1/2" Bolts hold the whole column in place
The steering box is 1 piece with a non collapsible 4' x 3/4" spear going through the column.

Head on Collision = Dead?

Besides the obvious there, i started driving school, i told the instructor about my car, she could have died!

" NO AIR BAGS!, NO SHOULDER RESTRAINTS!, NO HEAD RESTS!, EXPLODING GAS TANK!, TIN CAN UNIBODY!. "

all i could say is that generations past all made it through.... but she continually scolds me for it.

And Still more to complain about....

stripping the engine bay FTL!

i dont really buy the steering wheel spearing a person in the chest .. i know a lot of guys talk of it but the old cars arent made to crumple like the new ones are so youll end up snappin your neck from whip lash before you end up smashing the front end in enough to shove the steering column into the cabin any more then it already is

But he went forward and met the steering wheel instead of it coming up to meet him right?

That could be helped with a 3 point conversion or other harness.

Yeah I can imagine that being a pretty easy thing to happen. Lap belts just keeps you from flying through the windshield but thats about it and the low seat backs don't help much either.

I know that is why I want summit sport seats and 4 point seat belts.

Don't be worried. I'm not.

BA why do you need a 4 point, wouldn't a 3 point be sufficient?
