We are working on a 66 stang with a 302. Dura spark ignition with some kind of upgrade. (he said hei but that isn't right). it ran until he tried to change the ignition switch. He can't quite remember how it was before. He has a blackwire that can only go on the center pole. A yellow wire that we are pretty sure about. one red that goes to the coil aand one red that seems to go to the starter solenoid. The problem is that when we hook it up the way we think it should go it tries to start in the accessory position.

 

he said the brown wire on the solenoid was never attached. The green wire on the switch is green because of shrink wrap but the wire is actually yellow.

 

Help oh wise electrical wizards!

 

Reverse the 2 red wires.

 

I tried that and got the same results.

 

I had a dura spark II system in my car before. I ripped all of that out, and installed an HEI distributor. One wire from the ignition switch, and one to the tach. Easy, clean, done.



It's pretty close to the MC bar, but everything clears.
