Need Help with purchasing a Fastback
Hello!
I am new to this forum and I need some advice regarding purchasing a vehicle. Previous Mustang owned was a 1973 Mach I !!!
A friends wife asked me to assist in purchasing a vehicle for her husbands 50th birthday. I found a 1965 mustang Fastback for around the 25k.
Here is what I have found out:
1965 Mustang Fastback 289(engine has 123500 original miles)
4barrel carb aluminum intake
hood scoop (non stock)
c4 green dot transmission
pony interior
exterior color is green(repaint in 1978) NOT original color
interior done around 2 years ago to original pony, using foam
Paint in excellent condition
Interior in very good condition
no ac
My question: how important is having the original color on the car in terms of value?
Same with hood scoop and intake manifold (my guess is that it came with a 2 barrel.
25000 seems a bit high for a non original color paint job.
Car has no rust, glass is great, non stock wheels.
Any assistance in this matter would greatly help me out!
Thanks,
Joekidd

Andrewmp6,
Thanks for the reply. I agree, I think it may be on the high side due to the color not being original and the intake and hood scoop being aftermarket. Will be interesting to get the VIN to see exactly what some of the options were.

I wouldn't let any of the changes you are speaking about stop me from buying the car if it is nice. If that were the case, I would not have bought my car, seeing the original color was Silver Frost.
If the car was properly prepared and was painted correctly, there may not be any hint of the color change.
The only issue would have is how well is the paint really holding up. It is now 31 years old.
If you can, post some pics of the car to help you make some informed decisions.
