Anyone have advice on how to replace the side spears on a 66 coupe - i have Drake replacements - been told have to unbolt the 2 quarter window bolts but how do you get the proper alignment of the window when you are done?

On my 65, I didn't have to do anything with the quarter window. I had to pull the rear seat bottom and the inner quarter panel trim. It was kinda tight, but thats all I had to do.

Problem is the 65 has different side trim - the 66 spears have FIVE speedy bolts attaching the trim and they are impossible to reach with the window mechanism in place

mark where the bolts were with a marker etc and put them back in and tweak them as necessart

I know that the quarter panel ornaments are different, but I guess I didn't think it would be more difficult to remove.

I'm glad mine was a Sprint so it didn't have the spears. Too much bling in my opinion ...

I see it the other way, and think 65-66 looks weird with out them.

Depends - the 66 GT option deleted the spears but replaced them with a beautiful long stripe from front to around the cove. You can tell a real GT easily - no holes for the spears!
I've been told the spears are a bear to replace - even the Scott Drake repros don't always fit - this is becoming a summer project
