Default Your Car's Value vs Your Investment

Do you think your car is worth what you have invested in it?

1. I've invested more than the car's value.

2. It's about equal.

3. So far I'm ahead of the game - my investment is less than it's value.

4. Dont know, don't care, doesn't matter.

I never understood the point of spending more than the cars value to upgrade it for a DD. For a hobby car absolutely but for soemthign you will eventually turn around and sell (and lose) money on, I won't go overboard. 2-3K in mods and that's it. I'll never get that money back or the deprecitated money on the car.

I saw a 66 on a lot the other day, the asking price was $14,900.

Paint and Body - C
Motor 351W - B (in my opinion)
Interior - B (looked good fit and finish had air)

So if that car could fetch $15k I have set my budget for my 65 289 coupe to $10k minus tools cause i am sure I will reuse them again in the future.

My 70 Boss Tribute investment is way past value - that with me doing most of the work too. Im doing a 66 vert that my goal is to be about equal when done. Of course none of this take into account my time.

I'd guess my investment is roughly the same as the value, including purchase price and accounting for appreciation. That said, I don't plan on selling it to make money, so I don't care so much. I want it to be what I want it to be, regardless of the resale value.

I know we'll have $20K+ in a $12-$16K car with our I6 to V8 conversion.

You know? I don't care though.

The experience is worth it and is priceless. I wouldn't change one thing how we are doing it one single bit.

Who says we'll sell it? I probably have close to $30K if not more into my 66 coupe. It'll be a dd for my son however he's already said he'll be driving one of the other cars most of the time. Do I ever expect to get my money back out of the car, NEVER. I just built what we wanted and had a great time doing it.....if we ever finish

My cars value is not worth as much as I have invested. But that c6 I smoked is worth more than I invested and the feeling it gave me was priceless!

I have a folder of receipts that would choke a billy goat. I never plan on adding them up and I'm sure I'm upside down on the car but I could care less. I have owned the car for 27 years and never plan on selling it.
