Default grrr white smoke....

ok, my I6 200 CI runs great with the exception of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. really embarrassing driving it around like this. when its running in the garage(door fully open) it burns my nose hairs and my eyes. what is the prognosis on this? what can i do to fix this problem?

thank you,

sure its not light grey? might be excessively rich esp if its burning your eyes...."white" smoke would be steam from a head gasket

I recently changed gaskets on my intake manifold, and got water in my oil. I didnt know however, started it up, and started blowing white smoke. I checked my oil, it was super milky. So I changed my oil with the filter and it quit as soon as i was done. So maybe check your oil, fuel output into the carb. And if those dont fix it, then its possible head gasket time.

Good Luck

I opened the oil filler cap while the engine was running and it was super smoky in there. I will pick up a new PCV today and also do an oil change, hopefully that will progress to a better result. Keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks,

First step to diagnosis is to pull the spark plugs. see if there is any reside on them.

This will HELP to determine the source of the smoke...

A. Oil - Oil on the tip of one or more plugs

b. Too much gas - one or more of the plugs wet with, or smells like gas

c. Water/steam - one or more of the plugs "washed" cleaner than the others, might even be shiny.
