I recently bought a '65 Fastback. The car is painted Ivy Green but the door vin tag is #8 Springtime Yellow.

The door tag has not been painted on or cut around, it is green behind the tag and original rivets. The entire underbody, motor bay are "old" green.

Not a sign of a repaint anywhere?? Any thoughts?

 

Miss print on tag? It happens more then you think.

my last 67 coupe had a 3 speed on the floor tag on it when it was purchased with a c4 automatic. I know for sure it was a c4 from the factory cause it was in the family since day 1. The tag itself was kinda strange around the transmission code as if it was a known mistake cause it was just barely stamped. So its def possible thats the case in your situation.
