Well they said it was a 289 but I'm being told that it probably isn't with these casting numbers..

 

I don't have the reference with me here at the office, but I don't think it is a 289. I think it may be a 302 the first two digits indicate it is a 1969 casting, c=60's 9= the exact year. I don't think they made 289s in 69.

 

Yes, they did make 289's in 69, but it was also the 2nd yr for the 302

 

chin rub, i looked in a book of mine and it said 351W. You said your car is a 66, some people put the 351W in earlier cars. I'd compare my casting number but the blocks in the shop. I'll check a couple other things and get back to you.

EDIT* I believe it may be O not a 0, and the 8015 may be 6015.

 

I know they didnt make 289's in 69, the 289 was fazed out mid 68 in favour for the 302
