On the inside of the door? Or the outside?

pull off your door panel and look into the door. the rod probably fell back into the door.

how do i do that exactly??

just take off the window roller and the arm rest??

i cant get a socket up into the arm rest....the only ones that fit are too big for the hole to the bolt...?

The armrest pad is held by bolts there should be two(?) phillips head screws holding the armrest in place. Remove the top metal panel first (the one your tip fits into). Once you remove the armrest and window crank (some cranks have a spring behind them so don't be surprized if one shows up), (if you have remote mirrors, you'll have to loosen the bezel around the control **** too)you have to remove the panel. It is attached with clips and too much force can destroy the weak fiberboard that hold them in place, be very careful. As weird as it may sound I always use my pickle fork to gently pry them up. I guess a large flat tip screw driver would work, but again be careful.

Once you have the panel open, it's just a matter of placing the rod back through the hole, and screwing on the tip. Reassemble in reverse order. Figure on 30 minutes, going slow and carefully. Clear as mud?

Hope it helps.

most auto parts stores will have the right tool for under 10.00. with the older painted doors i wrap it with black tape so that you wont scratch the paint.

The reason your door lock **** came off is because the threads inside the **** are either stripped, or you twisted it counter-clockwise until it came unthreaded from the rod. Check the inside of the **** to see if it is stripped. Use lock-tite to secure the new ****.
