you might have broken it off. That's the only reason it would look so smooth.

 

yeah, maybe....but when i peer down into the hole i can see the metal stick type thing and its got threads on the end....weird....

 

okay well i sort of blindly (no door dissasembly experience) too that sucker apart and felt around inside....i found the rod....got some thread lock and put that **** back on and voila! door works great now.
