Default choke trouble (pic inside)

My idle stays high even when the engine is hot.....the idle won't lower itself unless i floor it in a heavy load situation (going up hill), or rev it up kinda high.....Then sometimes it will go back to high idle after lightly accelerating a couple times.

There is a crack in the choke housing that i think is the cause. Also, the choke plate in the carb will not point straight up. Even if I put it straight up, it falls back to an angle.

Are choke assy's available??? Because i haven't seen any.

Here is a pic of the crack....

Any ideas?

That is not a crack, that is a mark to tell you where the auto choke will stop. Loosen the three screws on the housing, and move that outer housing to the middle mark. That should give you an idea of where you need to further adjust it.

If your carb and set up is like mine, you have an idle set screw that can be adjusted to set the idle at whatever RPM you desire. I have mine set at 800 RPM. The screw is hard to see. It is forward and slightly to the right of the rod, almost dead center. I have a Motorcraft 2100,.so this may not be any help to you.

You should check to see that the choke housing is getting hot. If it's not, no matter how you adjust the choke t-stat, it won't matter.
