Default Ever dye a convertible top?

I bought my 67 convertible about 6 months ago and it has a top that is only about 1.5 years old, but some knucklehead in the neighborhood the guy lived in that I bought it from got a very light white overspray on it. I want to revitalize a real sharp black on it, but I am nervous about "painting" the convertible top.

I talked to the auto paint shops and they suggest a product called "SEM Color Coating" which is a vinyl paint that is supposedly flexible. But putting spray on a flexible top makes me nervous.

I have to think there is a rub on dye out there or even a polish (like a vinyl hardtop polish) that might work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Trevor

people dye headliners all the time, maybe the dye would work on your convertible top too

Do you know if they use the spray dye like these other guys suggested or do they use something else like a rub-on or dip dye?
