Decided on the emchanic route again since the replace a part here and there didnt work out. Another thing though, on the way there there was a loud ping in the motor and a puff of black smoke....how much of a bad thing is that? Hoping just a normal backfire?

Argh, I'm so mad at my self. It was the points and condensor.....that I already bought but didnt know how to properly install....could of been a 20$ fix ended up being a 103$ fix...because they "did some other stuff too" .....right. Well i'll be kicking my self in the *** for the rest of the night.

Just consider it a learning experience. We have all been there and doine that, so you are in good company. Now, consider replacing the points and condenser with the pertronix ignition system.
