something is missing

I have a 68 mustang with a '73 air cleaner, not my choice but the person i bought if from threw a bunch of random parts together that make my car. Anyways on to the question, Something is missing where the green arrow is, I think it has something to do with the air cleaner but im not sure can someone tell me whats missing? Thanks

lol, i was bout to say, i have never seen that before, but then i realized you have a I6..... take a better picture, and i m sure somebody can help.

on a V-8 there would be a heat riser tube comin up from the exhaust manifold that hooks into the air cleaner neck.

Heat riser indeed. Do you live in a cold climate? If you live in the south or someplace warm it isnt absolutely needed. It helps the engine by warming the air to the carb with heat from the exhaust manifold. The choke doesnt have to stay on as long that way when its cold, like 40F and below.

Nah, I'ts a heat riser tube. Not much emession stuff on old Mustangs.

I live in So. California. Does the heat riser connect to the air cleaner and the engine? If so would I be able to connect the 73 air cleaner with the 68 engine? Sorry if this isnt makeing sense.
