air filter

im planing to buy the K&N X-STREAM airfilter for my 65 coupe. i was wondering if there enough clearance to fit a 4' filter with a stock hood and a holley carb.?

get a 4" piece of cardboard or wood and lay on the carb as an airfilter would and try to put the hood down.

^^^or remove the current air cleaner, put molding clay in the shape of a cylinder about 6 inches long on top of the carb and put the hood down. measure the squished length of the air filter, take off about 1/2 an inch for torque/engine twitches and viola!

You can also crumple up some aluminum foil that is that thick, then close the hood and see how much it crushes it, if any.
