i want to get 350+HP under my hood. would it be cheaper to just buy a 302 block and build it or just add on to my 289?

see, headers have their disadvantages. Have you had the valve covers off? It'll have the size heads stamped onm the head under the cover. If it says 289, more then likely, it's the original engine, because most people stuck 302's in the place of 289s.

it'd end up costing more, after buying a 302 block, etc. I'd keep the original engine, and upgrade.

then more likely it's the original engine. unless the other one was blown up, nobody would put another 289 in place of a 289 for nothing. BUT who knows. Im just guessing.

Another thing is that I have no data plates. My car has been painted red black and springtime yellow. The rims are from a 68-69. I dont think that just an original engine will hold much value. The value would go up due to a new engine. FINALLY who cares about the value im not selling it.EVER

lol, I would never sell mine either. I didn't say u was. EVEN THOUGH, im tempted every now and then. I justr drove a couple of guys home the other day in this dinky trailer park. A drug dealer offered me 5,000 cash, right then and there. I just declined, then smoked the tires before i would get shot.
