Default Quarter Panel...Time for Replacement???

Hey guys. I just got my mustang, and the quarter panel looks pretty bad. I have some pictures of it. Basically, is there any type of body work I can do without replacing it, or is it time to just weld on a new one?

anything can be fixed almost....but would it be easier to just get a new quarter panel welded on....perhaps...you should talk to a body shop...someone on here will probably know too and answer later....

That looks like it has been worked on a few times. If it were me, I would just get a new qtr and replace it. You will more than likely find other things needing to be replaced as you do the work.

do not bondo that. you can replace the entire quarter panel as suggested, or simple replace the lower portion around the wheelwell. i believe places sell just that section around the well because it's what goes bad most of the time. search for it. both of mine looked just liked that, and i opted to do it correctly and replace both quarter panels entirely. up to you.

Alright. Replacements it is. It's what I was planning in the first place, but if there was something easier out there...

Mayh3m,

when you say replace entire quarter panel are you referring to welding a section around the wheel or did you replace the fender all the way to the door?

You can't really tell what is under that paint. To save yourself some grief, I would just replace the entire quarter panel. The difference in cost of welding in a new section, and welding in a whole panel would be minimal to comparable , and we all know that labor cost of welding is the biggest expense if you can't do it yourself.

i was referring to a quarter panel skin. more than likely, that's the only part that is rusted. however, my passenger side had a rusted wheelwell too, but we just made a patch panel for it. some pictures:
