Default Rust Prevention

anyone know of a good rust fighting agent that i could pick up at NAPA for fairly cheap. Im patching the floorboards tomorow so i just thought i would spray somethin down that might help on the rust a lil bit in the future

You mean the floorpans underneath the carpet? I just sprayed Rust-Oleum Auto Primer on my floorpans, and I have no rust at all. Granted, the car's been garaged, but I sanded them down and sprayed them about 8 months ago and none of it has come back yet. Sorry if I misinterpreted what you're asking.

A good primer/sealer is all you need. If you just want to grab something from your local auto parts store then Rustoleum works pretty well. I think Duplicolor has one too that's pretty good.

yea, the pans underneath the carpet. also how important is it to cut out all the old rot and rust. and has anyone ever heard of putting a lil bit of tar down below the patch.
