Tyler is correct. Your number one piston is the front one on the passenger's side. Then it progresses to the rear on the passenger's side with 2,3 and 4. 5,6,7 and 8 are on the driver's side from front to rear. "1 spark plug wire is at 1 o'clock on the dizzy. If you have it hooked up any differently, you ain't gonna get her to fire....

 

HEY.... I was right the whole time. I even posted a pic.
I know timing and firing orders now. I messed with them for quite awhile.
