Cam timing?????
It all depends, each way will get you somethin different, im not sure of what it is exactly, but if you advance it it will give you either more HP er more Torque, the same with retarding it. It either that or it moves your power band up or down. I dont know all the specifics but there is somethin for you to research
Slickman. Get a timing wheel, and set up the cam so it matches the specs straight up. There is sometimes a little error in cams, and this can be corrected with a multi keyway timing set. from memory theres a good instruction sheet for timing a cam on the edelbrock site.
From what ive read Comp Cams grinds their cams 2degrees in advance, so when you install it "straight up" it is actually advanced 2 degrees already. Oh and i did some research and all advancing does is move your powerband down the RPM scale. Retarding it moves it up.
Cool, I had planned on installing it straight up so that's great.
