Know where I can get a v8?
I currently have a straight six 67' mustang coupe. I'm looking to swap out my straight 6 cyl for a v8. Any one in the Seattle area interested in selling, or know where I might be able to pick one up? Transmission would help too
. Thanks for the help!

You might want to just look for an original V8 mustang, most of the people on this board will agree with me on this issue. It involves a lot more than just swapping the engine and tranny, the 6's body isn't as strong at the 8's, you'll need to do exstensive work including suspension and the shock tower strengthening or replacement.
why is it that when someone wants to drop in a v8, everyone on this board tries to talk him out of it? all you have to do is get a new suspension, which you should do anyway being the car is 40 years old, so there's no wasted money there. then find an engine, tranny, and rear end. basically that's all there is to it. i got my 289 and AOD for $300. it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. good luck.
mayh3m,
most of the people that want to swap to a V8 dont no very much, i am not saying you egomonkey, but it is usually their first classic car. You had the experience and skills required to get the job done. Egomonkey, you may have the skills

And, your $300 engine and AOD is either a freak accident that you found it at that price, or you have good friends or family members who helped you out. That's a pipe dream for most of us.
take your time and look at want ads, classifieds, etc. i got my 1972 351w long block w/ d00e heads for 125$, fully machined. there are lots of deals around if you take your time when buying stuff. good luck.

Because it is very expensive, time consuming and requires a lot of wrenching skills, special tools, shop space and knowledge. The end result is a car that has more money poured into it than it is worth. By starting with as V8 car, you don't have to replace anything. You just need to upgrade as you get the money to do so. If a V8 car is what you want.....why start with a 6 banger?
