my motor is stock, but very strong. I only have an edelbrock intake but at idle it really does chug. Makes me think someone has put a hotter cam in it at one time, it chugs really low at idle. any way i could tell if it is a hotter cam or not other than pullin it out?
My '68 motor has never been out of the car, and it has a super smooth idle. My '66 motor has 10:1 compression, headers, and a 650 holley, and stock cam and it even has a super smooth idle. I'd say youve got a hot cam if its got a lopey idle.
hot cam means and upgraded cam over stock. with higher lift and duration numbers and all that stuff. the cam is essentially the brain of the motor and tells it what to do, a hotter cam allows for certain things to stay open or closed longer which essentially produces a higher horsepower motor with the right additions.
