I have an automatic (65) Fastback and there is a long spring that comes over and attaches to the underside of the passenger floor pan. I am thinking that it might attach to the emergency brake assembly but not sure. I will have to crawl under and take a look.

Yeah, but he is talking about a standard tranny and he is on his back looking up under the dash. It's the clutch pedal spring.

BTW, that things a pain in the butt to put back in. We used a jack about 4 hours, and a 2x4 to mash mine into place, then I found out that I didn't need it with my hydraulic clutch kit. I was pretty stinkin mad, so I sawed it in half with a dremel drill.

That's right, the hydraulic takes the place of the spring. I feel your pain. Next time.....READ.

For those that are wondering, that spring is there to assist you in holding the clutch pedal to the floor. You can run without it but it makes the clutch pedal much harder. When you install the springs you need to put the clutch pedal to the floor. With the clutch pedal on the floor it takes about 5 minutes to install.
