I have to laugh evey time I think about the first time my father helped me fix my car. It was a 79 stang with a four banger in it , one of the lobs on the cam was washed so we were changing it. The funny part of it had nothing to do with the other than the fustration of removing the cam, at that time my nieces and nephews were playing in the genaral area. We both were skerming and yell for them to go play somewhere else. After the car was finially fixed my mother and wife at the time laugh at how much we were alike the whole apple and tree thing.

i second that i wish there was a drag strip around my town, we have national trails but it is only open on certin nights and at weard times.
my dads dream was to open a car hop like arnolds on happy days he said he would put in a stretch of road for drag racing, and a spot so you could burn rubber till the tires exploded, but he never got to see his dream i have thought about doing somthing like that but i dont have the cash

there's got to be some way of getting a grant or loan for asomething like this. Johnny Law is pissed about street racing and the lives it takes, why doesn't the gov't step up and work with people and set up some kind of loan or grant to remedy the problem. i mean, sh**, they'll be happy to give you money if you're going to rebuild a bad neighborhood, but god forbid you help out people who will potentially save someone's life by keeping these people from doing this on the streets and highways. if ya do it like your dad wanted to you can make your loot off the resturant. and if it's just a track, the less you charge the more people will come. i'd personally drive an extra couple miles to save bucks on driving down a track.

^just one more reason someone has to step up and change things.

Damn Camaro drivers...seriously though i dont think that much would change if there were more tracks because the people doing this stuff are completely irresponsible and like to do things on the spot @ the streetlight or in the parking lot (ricers) so although we would enjoy it i dont think much would change.

Edit: Crash, where did you find that exhaust system on your Cardomain Page? Would if fit a '67?

i tell you what i would not trade the amount of memories i had with my dad for all the money in the world right now, my son will be 3 in july my daughter is to be born on good friday this year i just hope i can get the two of them out in the garage with me when they get older, if i can get them there i know that at least they are not getting in to trouble, i have been down that road with my brother after my dad passed away i am just thankful that he enstilled a lot af respect for myself and other people and because of him i was able to go to northwestern auto diesel in lima ohio , i know he was proud of me because of what i did.
i always thaught he was hard on me but looking back i see he was not he was just getting me ready for life, so i say if you have kids atleast try to get them to help you on cars it saved me

I totally agree about the track thing. There is not a track within a hundred miles of me, and the kids in my small town use the country roads for drag racing. Let's face it, you are not going to stop the from dragging. But, you could offer an alternative and safe site to do it. I think the problem lies in insurance coverage for a strip owner. It must be awfully expensive to not only put in the track that meets standards, but to also pay the enormours bucks for insurance. I'm not for the government subsidizing anything, so I would be against federal interference. And, if there is no help from outside sources, a single person could just simply not afford the cost alone. Plus the burden of the possibility of a kid getting killed on his homemade track. Therein lies the problem with having more drags strips than we do.

very true and point noted. i hadn't really thought that far in. if putting in a track would keep someone from dying due to complete irresponsibility, would it be worth the cost? thats how my mine was thinkin. well, at this point we can do nothing more than pray our familys and friends are not the ones involved and that these kids realize the risk before it's too late. i have to give a big thumbs up to at least one of the import vid makers cause they are starting to show real life sh*t where people have died and show the actual car that was wrecked. hopefully these kids will realize that it's not worth the risk.
