Default Ruined For Life?

Driving home tonight up ahead of me what did I see, but a flat bed hauler with something mean and green. Bumping along that road up ahead yes indeed it is lights of three.
I got as close as I could and then along beside and grinned to myself for it was indeed a car near mine. Perhaps a 69 or even a 70 with emblems that read 351 GRANDE.
Along beside with it high in the air I could see what see someday might be. She needed new quarters, doors, and probably a floor. That was not all for the story has more....
The surprise got better as I passed her with ease for the car in front of that hauler you see had a father and son leading her home. The son couldn't have been more than 12 or 13.
He looked over his shoulder time after time to make sure his baby was still behind. The grin on his face told of stories to come, of afternoons spent between father and son.
I followed from in front as long as I could, but alas they turned North at a light I did see. I thought to myself I hope they know of a place on the internet soon to be home.
Where questions are posted and answered so well and friendships are made day after day and the distance thats covered has no say. Anyway thats my weak attempt at poetry.
I couldn't help but think as I drove on down the road he's ruined for life like others I know!

Hope you all like

Ya done good Mark. Can you imagine what that young teenager was thinking? Can you imagine the dreams that were going through his head about how that car will look when it's finished? There is absolutely no better father and son project than rebuilding a classic Mustang. None.....

Im 15 and we got to drive the mustang home. I couldnt stop smiling. It was a 2 hour trip on the open highway. then we hit traffic, the car overheated, and the radiator blew. From that point on i was offically restoring my mustang. I didnt know much and i had thought that the engine had blown.

Tyler- at least you got to drive it before it quit you[&:]. I'm $4K into repairs/ improvements and I've never got to hear her run.

Yes I agree I get my son out in the garage as often as he will come help me. He likes when I'm welding but so far he hasn't really caught the bug. I don't push it he has his own life and his own timing. Besides these days he's spending a lot of time in the gym off-season conditioning and school always comes first. He's a smart kid wants to go and study somthing called Bio-mechanical engineering (a Phd in mechanical engineering as well as a MD in medicine) so we are working hard on earning some scholarships.

But the project has to end ...

I closed up my tool box,
My mind wandered back
To stripping, and sanding
To bondo and tack
The smell of the Cleveland
When she first fired up,
The busted knuckles have healed,
He’s learned a few words,
And the magic a curse word can work on a nut.
He’s learned all the lingo,
He can hold his own in a shop.
Work 15, break 20 its part of the gig.
New intake, exhaust and a 4 barrel too
The card is now maxed,
The paint was all dry,
The smell of exhaust,
I started to cry.
He's off with his friends,
But this phase will pass,
He'll have to stop by,
To get money for gas.

Mine's been in the family since my grandfather bought it in 73. My uncle drove it in high school, wrecked it, sold it to my dad, he wrecked, sold it back to my uncle, then sold it back to my dad who wrecked it again and parked it in 1980. It was parked under an old shed at the edge of the woods at my house and I used to go out and set in it, changing gears and pretending I could drive since I was like 5 years old. Had some really great times restoring it and my 1970 F100 with my dad. Its some of the best things a father and son can do together.
