The only way the filter will leak is if the old gasket stayed on the block and now you have a double gasket situation. When pulling the old filter always make sure the gasket is not still on the block. Always put and thin layer of oil on the new filter gasket before installing. That will keep it from sticking when you go to remove it.

The motocrafts filters are made by purolator. Surely, you don't think that they made their own filters. So you already put a motocraft filter on, you just didn't have to pay for the name. Amsoil has just come out with some nano-fiber technology filter that is supposed to be incredible. I have not seen any data yet. I personnally either buy Amsoil, or buy NAPA which is made by Wix.

With respect to the Motorcraft filter line... They are made by a variety of different manufacturers. Ford ( and GM and Chrysler and Cat etc... ) all put their maintenance products out for bid periodically. Sometimes their current supplier won't win the new contract either because of pricing or inability to meet production demands or a host of other reasons. Then the order goes down/up the line to the next most competitive bidder. You can't always count on any factory brand being made by any major supplier. I do agree however that wix is a premium brand and you just can't go wrong with Wix. That's all I use on my daily drivers. Hope this helps, Dean
