Default oil filter

I changed my oil filter (66, 289) with a puralator Pure (nice color blue) and it is leaking. Is ther a better filter? Should I use only Motorcraft? FOMOCO?

Motorcraft and Wix make good filters for our cars. There are more expensive ones to include Amsoil and Redline, but unless you are running synthetic oil, you will be just fine with either the Motorcraft or the Wix.

I run Puralotor on mine also. Just make sure you rub some oil on the new gasket. It helps it to seal better.

I doubt your leak is a filter problem. Did you verify that the sealing gasket came out when you took off the old filter? If not you've doubled your gasket, a sure way to get a leak.

I use a Fram filter in the mustang, and my truck, and my van. Havent had any problems with them.

I read on a website that compared a bunch of different brands of oil filters and they said Fram was the worst.

I agree with Soaring.. Matter of fact Wix filters is one of the best filters out there.. I have a article that goes into details on many filters. I'll out it up on my web site tonight.

Yeah, it has been proven over and over that Fram filters are at the bottom of the quality gauge for filters. That is all you can get at Wally World though, so I suggest you not shop at Wally World for oil filters.
