Will a 16x8 rim fit on a stock 1967 with drums all around?
yes...with the correct backspacing. I have 17x8 on my '66. I need spacers in the front for clearance. remember it's not just the rim size. the tire size matters as well.

Okay, so here is the deal. I figured 15x7 is too small in the back, so I want 16x8 now. I want 255's in the back, and like 225-235's in the front on 15x7's. Where can I find wheels with the 4-lug pattern? I was looking on Summit for some and they only have REALLY ugly ones, and a very small variety. My car has the 4-lug pattern, so yeah. Also, the spacing is measured from the top center of one lug to the outside of the other lug, right?

You are going to be limited to which wheels you can get with 4 lugs. Before replacing the existing wheels and tires, I suggest you upgrade your 6 banger suspension to a V8 suspension to accept the 5 lug wheels. You will also be beefing up the front and rear for the V8 application. It appears you are going for looks before you go for safety. That is a no no in the classic Mustang restoration process. And, since you have the 4 lugs in the back as well, you have a 7.5 rear end. A very weak rear end for V8 applications. With big fat tires and wide rims, you are putting undue pressure on that weak rear end, and it will dump whenever you get on it. Do it right....Start by replacing the suspension.
If you still have an I200 6 banger in that 67, then you are just wasting money on big tires and rims. Work on beefing up the engine so that it will pull the hat off your head, and also upgrade your rear to at leat an 8" with around 3.50 gears.

Okay, that sounds right. I AM going for safety, but I just wanted to buy something that looked good when I did it. I was planning on buying this suspension kit first.

But how do I upgrade to a 5-lug pattern? Does that mean different brakes? I really don't want to do the disc brake swap yet because I need to maintain the car as a daily driver for now, so I really only want to do small projects. I also didn't like it when I saw the 4-lug pattern, and I was going to ask how I go about setting up the 5-lug pattern. Any help would be nice. Thank you.

You will either need to rob a 65 and up 5 lug pattern braking system to get the 5 lugs, or you will have to replace your existing system with a disk brake system with 5 lugs. It makes no sense to replace a 4 lug drum/shoe system with a 5 lug drum/shoe system. That would cost as much as upgrading to a 5 lug disk brake system on the front. On the rear, you will need to replace the entire rear end. And while you are at it, why not get a disk brake system back there as well? It's not that critical as the front though. Now, since you say you are using your car as a daily driver, my suggestion is to get some original wheels and hub caps that are period correct if you don't already have them. The grab-A-Trak suspension for the front is an excellent kit, and I encourage you to go ahead and install that no matter what you decide about the 5 lugs.

Okay, so I think what I will do right now is keep my wheels/hub caps that I have and just replace the tires with nothing fancy. I'll do the suspension up front and wait on buying the bigger tires for when I do the disk brake swap later on. Thank you for your help.

You sound like a young man with a head on your shoulders. Yeah, it would cost you a ton of money to upgrade to the 5 lug system. Money you could save up to upgrde the suspension system. Good choice.

on my 66 i have original style 14x7 inch rims with the tires being a total of 8 inches from side wall to side wall. i have a problem with my tire rubbing the cars frame when i turn one way, and the fender the other way. the problem isnt severe as long as i do not try to take turns too tight, but parking is hell because i turn so tight. the only way i can find to fix it is to put 1 inch spacers in the coil springs. i do not like that idea because it lifs the front end of my car giving it an undesirable look. aside from bying narrower rims, is there anything i can do without changing the look of the car?
