73mach1 fender
Right on the money aqua ! However, if your body man is competent he should be able to remove the front inner structure from a 73 fender an place it in the 71-72 fender. If your 73 fender is rusty down on the bottom, you might consider such an operation. The fenders are exactly the same EXCEPT that the 73 uses a longer fender extension than a 71-72. These extensions were longer vertically than a 71-72 and were necessary to fit properly with the 73 only enduraflex bumper. Hope this helps, Dean

But I had a 72 with the endura bumper... I want one for the 71
anyone have one?
I would just have the innerstructure swapped, unless you can find some rust/dent free 73 pieces. If you can, I want the doors.

teh grille is obvious, and I know there were changes on the 73. It just kinda sounded like the 73 was the only endura bumper year. So I wondered why my 72 had one. I knew I shoud have kept that car around. I traded it for a 4 bolt main 4V Cleveland.
hey guys thanks for the info i went to a junk yard found a 71 grande the fenders are way different the body line is all different also the nose part the ones i found are in great shape if anybody needs 71 fender
Wade, if the body lines are different then something is very wrong. The 71-73 body lines are identical. The trouble comes from the fender extension and substructure and eyebrow area around the headlight. This can be removed and placed into another fender with only a slight amount of patchwork to be done. I assure you that very few ( if any ) people will be able to spot the repair/modification and the fender will fit and function as it should. Take a look at my Mach 1 photos in the gallery and see if you can guess which one we built and which is original to the car.
With respect to the enduraflex bumpers.... the 72 was I THINK the first year for the enduraflex bumper and I believe it was found only on the Mach 1's. The chrome bumper cars had chrome fender extensions and the rubber bumper cars had painted fender extensions. In 1973 ALL Mustangs carried the rubber bumper and chrome front bumpers were NOT available. I'll check my parts books on the 71-72's and get you an exact date for enduraflex bumper introduction.
Hope this helps, Dean RSRXION
