67's and 68's could be ordered with the 390's. I believe that even in the latter part of 68 ford even put the 428 into the 68'. If you had a 67-68 fastback 390 GTA i would be your new best friend, my favorite car ever by far!

429 was the largest put into stangs as production. HOWEVER, the 429 family of engines includes the 460. 429 and 460 are the same block, different bore and stroke I believe. So that being said any mustang that was capable of swallowing the 429 will also have no problems with a 460, or any displacement engine built from this block. I have been doing research on a 460 swap for my 72 coupe and have found that 460s can be found for a very reasonable price since they were in production up until the mid 90s. I almost bought one for $50.

I know its definatley not originial but ford makes a 513 or 514 or something like that, crate engine. They put on in a 69 on overhaulin once. Im not sure what block size it would be. Putting a 429 or a 460 into one of these cars would be very hard. Ford outsourced it themselves when they made the Boss 429's. Had to have some shock tower modifications.
