Default I6 to 289 conversion PICS -- What next?

I'm getting a bunch of pictures together (HIGH RES)

Here are several pics from under the FRONT of my mustang. http://www.networktechs.com/mustang/front/ I bought this car apparently with only a halfassed conversion to the V8. The 289 is sitting in there but I have no idea what else I need to do to the front to get it up to supporting the 289.

I want to do this thing RIGHT.

I've found a 9" rearend from a '70 Mustang for $250 which I should be picking up maybe this weekend. (drum to drum)

"bullit" rims from an 04 Mustang were just paid for and will be here in probably about a week.

Disk brakes are certainly going to be done.

I know I need V8 spindles for the front (bidding on ebay right now)

My spending so far is at $690 and I have to get the disc brakes for the front... What else do I need to finish this baby?

if its small and wimpy looking its needs to be changed and you can'nt only do part of each system because the parts are not compatable. Basicly you have to change the steering from the pitman arm on the steering box to the spindles and the front springs and the rearend and springs.

Depends what year your car is, if it's '66 or before, it needs most major steering changed out. If it's '67 or older, all the steering components are the same for 6cyl and v8

Stop bidding on those spindles! You can download the NPD catalog from npdlink.com, then compare the replaceent part numbers for the I6 and V8 suspension parts. This way you can tell what needs to be replaced because of size. However, you should also inspect your suspension for what needs to be repaced due to wear!

What are your plans for disk brakes? There are kits for mounting calipers to your spindles, which IMHO are a better alternative to the Granada swap.

In addition to the suspension you will need a bigger radiator, throttle linkage, fuel line routing, and may be some wiring changes.

Good luck with your project.

I'm not going Granada, I've read about the problems with that. Not completely sure which setup I'm going with yet but I will be getting a kit and avoiding grenada parts.

thanks for the catalog tip, going through it now....

so what are the problems with granada discs? I just did that conversion to my 65 comet, and they work great. I havent replaced the master yet, but I also plan on going with an explorer 8.8 rear end with discs so Ill replace the master then.
