Default RE: Trunk Panel Install

The trial fittings went pretty well today. Take a look at attachment 1. Was really surprised at how well most everything lined up without major pounding on. However, this is going to be fairly difficult when I decide the time has come to weld it in place. And the fact that I have NEVER done anything like this before, well as soaring said... patience, patience will be the key. I guess until I find someone here who lives around NC who wouldn't mind making a weekend trip up to show me how the hell its suppose to work, lol [sm=smiley4.gif]

Anyhow, the only major problem I came across today was this, see attachment 2. The trunk panel, quarter panel and taillight panel corner area. The quarter panel is about an inch or less shy from meeting up with the other two, as you can see. This may be due to the fact that I did weld in new frame rail extensions, the 28" replacement piece. Perhaps my measuring was off a tad. But, I think I’ll fix this by just shopping the 1/2 inch or so off the end. Or, is this not wise? Should I worry about that 1/2 inch when it comes time to install the suspension????

Well, thanks for all the input, and I’ll keep you'll posted.

You are doing a wonderful job. That 1/2 inch space can be patched with new metal if everything else lines up and you are square with the world.
