Default What shift kit?

I need to find a shift kit by this upcoming monday so I can have it installed by my uncle. I've already brought him the tranny and he recommended that I get a shift kit that doesn't get into the internals of the transmission. Which means I need a shift kit for the valve body. If that makes any sense.

So I need your opinions on what to buy. Not too expensive but it still needs to be a good company. I have no experience with shift kits and the last time my uncle installed one was in his chevy back in highschool, so he doesn't know whats good and whats not.

I know this seems like a vague question but I don't know what else I need to ask about. Thats what you guys are for! Thanks much.

Edit: Forgot to add what tranny I have. It's a C4.

My $0.02
Valve body kits are pretty much the same. I used to use B&M kits. Use type F fluid, and make sure the sero bore is not worn.

Good luck with it.

So i'm looking at either getting a B&M Shift Improver kit or the B&M Transpak. Their site says the Shift Improver kit works for the 67-69 years with C4s. Will this kit work with a 1966 C4?

Whats the difference between those two kits? One is $50 and the other $30.

the reason that it won't work on a 66 is that it has a dif. valve body they call a green dot. it has 2 drive positions. one position you get 1,2,3. the other you get just 2,3. i thought that something was wrong with my tranny untill i took it to a good tranny man. he set me right and explaned that to put a shift kit in it that i would have to rreplace the valve body.
