I don't have problems with my 66FB however I do in my 68 Bronco and the trick is to turn the nozzle up side down on the Broncos is something that have to do with the fuel tank filler pipe air vent and the speed that the gas flow in.

I just let her rip on my 65 as well. The PO of your car may have put in a screen wire in the filler tube to prevent thieves from stealing the gas. Check out that possiblilty.

It is not uncommon to have issues with pumpung gas. The problem started when they changed from leaded to unleaded gas. To keep you from putting leaded gas in a vehicle designed for unleaded, the size of the nozzle was reduced. Now we only have nozzles for unleaded and these are all smaller than they were in the day. This promotes a bad angle for the nozzle going into the filler tube, hence the problems kick back causing the pump to shut off. Some cars are more sensitive than others. The key is to find the right angle for the nozzle.

A stock engine does not need that high of octane. If you look in the owner's manual it recommends about 93 octane for a regular fuel engine. Just run whatever you can withough it pinging.

You are wasting money on anything above 87 regular octane if you have your timing set up right. The soft valve seats can be protected with a lead substitute.
