Anyone else soda blast their own car before?? how long did it take and did you rent equipment or buy it?? how many lbs of soda did it take?? How much did you end up saving over having a shop do it?? thanks

Hay, a six pack of soda on sale for $1, just shake the can, pop the top and point and shoot. But why do you want to blast your car with soda?

Cheers.....[sm=alcoholic.gif]

cause it wont warp the metal and instead of clean up the sand from a sand blaster, their is no clean up for soda blasting

You younguns who are ignorant to soda blasting as opposed to sand blasting, media bead blasting and chemical removal of paint should do some google searching to get educated.

done my research already. go look up ACE who specialize in soda blasting. call and ask for john, he is coming down from sacramento to help give some pointers for people in the LA area on how to soda blast. he should be in the area in about a week so if any of you guys want to learn how just call them up and set up an appointment if he is in your area. he also sent me three magazines on soda blasting so im sure i im in the right direction.

yeah, why the **** would you waste soda? your clean up on that would be worse when the base of the soda (syrup) turns hard and sticky on your car and gets inside your cowl. media blasting has made sand blasting damn near obsolete. and they sell stuff at advance auto that you spray on and in minutes you can literally WIPE the paint off. much easier than spraying your car with soda and you wouldn't look like a fool doing it. damn younguns trying to save a buck, just spend the money to do it right the first time.

Geez. Soda Blasting is a nondestructive operation that can remove or prepare old paint and will not damage most base materials comprising the body structure, i.e. steel, aluminum, fiberglass, moldings, window glass, etc.

•SodaClean is a non hazardous food grade material that is 100% water soluble and environmentally safe.
•Soda Blasting will eliminate the need of using toxic cleaning chemicals.
•Soda Blasting will clean multilayered surfaces to any level desired.
•Soda Blasting may be used to clean while machines and processes are in operation.

Soda as in Baking Soda. Not Soda as in Pop, Coke etc.

This is the newest solution for stripping paint from classic cars without the heat and pressure required for media, sand etc. If you had a 100k Shelby, you would soda blast it before the resoration. It also should be cheaper than traditional sand or media because the clean-up is less labor intensive.
