No I was not going to buy one. Iwas looking at a car that is supposed to a TRUE GT Car.....

Tell me is the GT suspension really that much better than the stock suspension that comes on a C code car or a plain A code car?
See what you think...... Shelby Mustang had beefed up suspension with lowered front A-arms, rear axle trailing arms, Koni shocks, bigger brakes, quick steering adapters, strong front spring tower supports and a Detroit 'No-Spin' locking differential in 9' Fairlane station wagon rear axles. They all had aluminum case Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed gearboxes and K-code engines modified with Holley 715cfm 4-barrel carbs on high-rise intake manifolds, aluminum oil pans and fabricated tube headers feeding dual exhausts with glass pack mufflers. Now, that is the 350 Shelby. Do you still have a question about whether or not the suspension is really worth it over a C code?

WOW!! that is ALOT!!! I gues it is just worth searching for the Cheapest and the most solid fastback that I can find I guess....

How does the GT 350 compare to a Stock Early 90's model 5.0 LX ?Is it better or worse?

Nah fox bodie mustangs especially 93's are crap compared to shelbys when it comes to handling. You need to remeber that plain ol fox bodies arent anything really special, and in some aspect, yes they do handle better than any of our old mustangs, but thats not to say they handle better than a shelby. Shelbys rides were meant to be ruff although refined to the point where it was a true roadwarrior on or off the track, anything like the 5.0 fox bodied cars just dont mean a darn thing IMO

WOW this is STRONG!!! This give me GOOD direction...So I Guess I need to focus my efforts on doing a COMPLETE Bottoms up replica of a Shelby. That means finding a Cheap Fastback of some kind and going with all the Shelby Package...I guess they sale this package at mustangs unlimted correct?

thank you guys...

not nessasarily, in fact you will prolly save more money and time just leaving it stock on the outside, but doing a lot of heavy duty suspension swaps within the car. I did that with my 67 GT. It all apears to be stock, even if you look under the car, the lower control arms are left natural on the ends just like the originals, and sway bar and brackets are painted correct, hell i even have an aluminum driveshaft under there, that no one but me or someone who drives the car will notice. You dont need to spend the extra money for original shelby suspension parts, i would personally give grab-a-trak suspension components a shot. they sell complete kits for the front end which includes 600lb front coil (or thats what i opted for) which you can get to be 1 inch lower if you dont like the way the front ends sit higher than the rest of the car which i dont, i prefer a complete even all four corners of the car look, anyhow it also comes with uper and lower tubed control arms instead of stamped steel, poly bushings for the control arms, strut rods etc. I got my front 1 1/2 inch say bar from global west products, and shocks are kyb gas-a-just front shocks in front and road warrior series in the rear. Finish that off with the stiffer export brace and the aluminum driveshaft and rear poly bushings for the shackles and i have a pretty good all around driving car, that appears very much stock even if you get under the car, but once you get in it it definetly could/can hold its own with most shelbys (exclude a cobra or 65 gt-350 ha ha ) but even if you dont care about stock appearence form like myself, i still would highly suggest the products i spoke of.

What about the mustang II suspesion?

Also how much more does the 67/68 fastback weigh as apossed to the 65/66 fastback? I know where I might be able to locat a 67 but I like the look of the 65 a littel bit better....Is either chassi better than the other as far as handeling and overall performance?

well the 67-8 mustangs were wider and longer than the 65-66 were, and can handle wider tires than any 65-6 can without modification, and for the 67 mustang, the suspension was reworked and vastly improved over the 66, however they still handle like hell. Im not sure if the mustang 2 suspension will fit under a 65-66 67-8 but im sure with work it can, but that is a huge improvment ove the old crap under these ponies we all have. if i were you go ahead and rip the suspension out of a 99 cobra a stick it in there, complete independent front and rear, so youll have the ride and comfort of a new mustang, but the look and style of the old. I do know this works because there was an article aboot it in mustang monthly two months ago with a 67 or 68 fastback that had complete cobra drivetrain.....just saying as an idea

I wonder where I could find this article? This seem like the TICKET to me!!!

So you think the suspension out of a 99 will fit in a 65/66?
