I am installing a Kenwood EZ500 soon, havent bought it yet, and I got around to running the wiring for the rear 6x9's and the front 6 1/2's. Now I am wondering on how to get power from the battery to the fuse box to the deck. I don't really know how to explain it that well.
How would I run power from the fuse box to the headunit? So when I turn on the ignition, the cd player turns on, like in newer cars. Is it possible with the factory fuse box? Or do I need to buy something else?
Also, how did you guys with modern cd players in your dash secure them in place?

cd players have 2 wires that do this for you. one will be hooked up to a constant 12v power source. another will be hooked up to an ignition wire which actually turns the radio on. it's pretty simple.

So the constant 12v power source is the battery and i'll need to splice into the orange ignition wire or a different one?
I dont have to go through the fuse box then?

I spliced into the fuse box. I am working from memory here but I beleive I used the ACCY fuse (Top fuse in the box)for the ACCY input and the Cig Lighter (Bottom Fuse in the box) for the constant.
The reason I did not splice into the Ignition wire was because I did not want to cut and factory wires. I wanted to be sure if I wanted I could remove the cd player and no one would ever know it had been there.
The securing method would depend on where you are mounting it. I put mine in the glove box. I have a picture of it in my gallery.

Not necissary to use the fusebox no. With my alpine I just ran the constant straight to the battery and used an inline fuse. As for the ignition wire it took me some trial and error with a multimeter due to earlyer non standard rewireing of the dash. Make sure you use an inline fuse though and a heat resetant wrap or conduit on the wires to tha battery, it gets hot under the hood.
You might laugh but to put it into the dash I just cut teh plastic to fit and screwed the breaklight indicator behind it under the dash to keep it from slipping back. I don't need that thing to tell me I'm breaking. hasent ever fallen out or skipped!
